On May 12, 2009, voters in British Columbia will decide which party will lead our province into the next four years. This page is meant to keep you informed and updated on election issues that matter to children and youth with special needs, adults with developmental disabilities, and their families.
BCACL has released Get the Vote Out, a voting guide that answers questions you may have about how to vote on election day.
We have also created documents on each of the five priority areas. Visit our election page for this and more information on the election.

The BC Self Advocacy Foundation (BCSAF) is doing a provincial pilot training project to help improve how self advocates are served by the Ministry of Housing and Social Development. The training will be tested in two regions - Vancouver Coastal and the Fraser region. At this time, BCSAF will be supporting six self advocates to work with a professional trainer to give the training to Employment Assistance Workers (EAWs) in February, 2009. The self advocate trainers will start working with a professional trainer in October to learn how to give the training to the EAWs. The application deadline is September 30, 2008. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Karla Verschoor at 604-777-9100; kverschoor@bcacl.org. Click here to read the application form.
