Geoff Wright

Geoff Wright is married with four adult daughters, one of whom lives with a developmental disability. Emily was born 32 years ago and since then he has been involved in advocating for her and others for early intervention programs, integrated education, and community inclusion.

Now retired, he spent his career in management in the Oil and Gas Industry in Alberta. During that time he was chair of the Fort McMurray Association for Community Living (two years) and Chair of the Fort McMurray Community Council (six years) involved in lobbying the provincial government for improved services and participating in the move to the Community Governance model for services for people with developmental disabilities. He also sat on a provincial task force to develop funding alternatives for the Individualized Funding option. Since 2005, he has lived in Qualicum Beach and has been a Director of the Parksville and District Association for Community Living from 2006 on. He also sat on the Central Island CLBC Community Council for three years, resigning in January 2010.

Community integration is a priority interest of his and, in particular, employment and housing choices that are key to being a full community member.
