A Leadership Event presented by the UBC School of Social Work and the Centre for Inclusion and Citizenship
Dates:
Increasingly, we hear about the struggle that organizations are having in their efforts to recruit skilled and talented employees. Mentoring provides a unique opportunity for organizations to discover new passion, foster leadership development, promote shared values across the organization and build healthier teams.
The UBC School of Social Work and the Centre for Inclusion and Citizenship are very pleased to present this unique opportunity. This one-day interactive workshop will explore mentoring processes and practices from the perspectives of mentees, mentors, and organizations as a whole. Topics will include the functions and benefits of mentoring, methods of creating and developing mentoring relationships for individuals including goal-setting and monitoring processes, and how to implement organization-wide mentoring programs.
Dr. Jane Fowler is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Human Services and Social Work at Griffith University in Queensland, Australia, an Adjunct Professor at West Virginia University, and has been a Visiting Professor at the University of British Columbia. She has over 15 years experience in researching mentoring processes and practices and has implemented mentoring programs for numerous organizations including the FBI in West Virginia and WorkCover Queensland.
