Date: February 11, 2012 10:00am - 3:00pm
Location: Notre Dame Regional Secondary School, 2880 Venables Street, Vancouver
Professionals from the fields of podiatry, dentistry, and optometry have received special training from Special Olympics and have volunteered on February 11th, 2012 to offer FREE Health Screenings to individuals with intellectual disabilities. These trained professionals use their training and tools specifically designed to catch some health issues that would otherwise go unnoticed.
The four disciplines offer a variety of Health screenings and information: Fit Feet, Health Promotions (delivered by UBC medical students), Special Smiles and the Lions Club International Opening Eyes, which provides a selection of FREE eyeglass frames and lenses to athletes in need.
Interesting talks delivering health information for parents as well as fun games and activities will take place as well! This event is open to Special Olympics athletes AND to individuals with intellectual disabilities who are not involved with Special Olympics, friends, caregivers, and families! All are welcome! Make it a group event and arrive on transit or carpool together!
Make sure you take advantage of this special opportunity.
