Stories from End Waitlists Now Blog Available on BCACL Website - April 3, 2009

As we head into the 2009 provincial election in BC, we wrap up the campaign to End Waitlists Now for supports and services for children and youth with special needs, adults with developmental disabilities and their families. The www.endwaitlists-now.org blog will close on Friday, April 3. We thank everyone who contributed to the blog - the strength and value of your stories is immeasurable and we want to make sure they continue to be shared. Content from the blog will therefore continue to be available.

As you may know, the campaign was very successful - the BC Government announced on February 17, 2009 that it will be investing $73 million in new funding over the next three years for adults with developmental disabilities. But our work is not done - now, more than ever, we need to ensure that the new community living investments are protected and that people with developmental disabilities are provided with the supports and services they need to participate in community. BCACL has created a Disability Supports background document to better assist our members, supporters and political candidates in making sure that supports for people with developmental disabilities is a priority in the 2009 BC election.
