The work of the BC Association for Community Living is guided and driven by committed volunteers who sit on our Board of Directors, our Self Advocacy Caucus, and all of our Committees. Self advocates and family members sit on all of these groups.
In our efforts to create positive change in the lives of individuals, families and communities, we work with all sectors of society – non-profit and volunteer organizations, educators, health care workers, advocates, government, business, and the general public.
The BC Association for Community Living works with a variety of levels of government on issues affecting adults with developmental disabilities, children and youth with special needs, and their families. While our focus is on advocacy at a provincial and national level, at times BCACL is also a voice for individuals. When called upon, we put our province-wide network and resources to work so individuals' rights are respected, their voices heard, and their needs met. We make every effort to link individuals with the advocacy resources in their own community.
